The knot in this tree caught my eye- so many interesting textures! I knew I had to try painting it. Turing the photo sideways, I thought I could get a more abstract look. Upon completion of the painting, I’m not sure I loosened up into more abstraction. But if you hadn’t seen the original photo, would you think of a tree trunk?
